Stroppo

Nei secoli passati la Valle Maira fu un importante via di comunicazione verso la Francia e le carovane che intraprendevano questo viaggio lungo e difficoltoso trovavano ristoro ed accoglienza presso Stroppo, il più grosso insediamento della valle.

Oggi, l'impostazione del borgo e i suoi monumenti rimandano ancora a quel periodo, la borgata principale di Paschero è organizzata interamente intorno alla piazza dove si affacciano il Municipio, la Parrocchiale con il campanile gotico ed un bel palazzo signorile.

Altri monumenti di grande memoria storica si trovano nei dintorni di Stroppo, e sono l'Antico Ospedale e Lazzaretto, la Chiesa di San Peyre abbellita da un caratteristico campanile romanico a vela ed il Santuario di Santa Maria di Morinesio, che campeggia solitario su un'altura da cui si può ammirare con un unico colpo d'occhio l'intera vallata del Maira.
