Fontana delle 99 Cannelle

Da sempre simbolo iconografico della città di L'Aquila, vicino Porta Rivera in Piazza San Vito, si trova la Fontana delle 99 Cannelle.

Nelle intenzioni dei suoi costruttori, e da qui la metafora, l'acqua avrebbe dovuto sgorgare da 99 cannelle, cosi come la città nel periodo medievale fu fondata avendo accorpato popolazioni dei villaggi e castelli vicini, di 99 per la precisione.

La fontana fu completata e restaurata dopo il terremoto del 1703.
