Brescia è dominata dall'imponente cittadella fortificata, caratterizzata da tutte le strutture peculiari dei castelli medievali: alte mura merlate, ponti levatoi, segrete e torri difensive. Discendendo dal colle ci si addentra nel centro storico, dove visitare la rinascimentale Piazza della Loggia, la piazza del Duomo e via dei Musei, su cui si incontra l'enorme complesso di Santa Giulia.
